Dan's father is Dr. Carlos I. Calle and besides being a great dad, he is the founder and head of NASA's Electrostatics and Surface Physics Laboratory at the Kennedy Space Center, and has also written a couple of books:

Dan's mother is Dr. Luz Marina Calle and juggles being a mother of a 30-something son who keeps reinventing himself with being the lead scientist for the Corrosion Technology Laboratory at the NASA Kennedy Space Center.


Dan and Em teach ballroom dancing at the Tysons Corner Arthur Murray studio in Vienna, Virginia, just outside of the nation's capital.
